This position is for an independent contractor, with a 2 years duration contract.

The Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) specialist is responsible for the operation and development of the

Kenmare mineralogy laboratory, providing training for the entire team.

Habilidades Requeridas

• Minimum of a master’s degree in Mineralogy or related field. A PhD would be preferred;
• At least 5 years’ relevant experience in operating a SEM;
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience in geometallurgy field for mining industry;
• Proven experience in automated mineralogy. Experience in Maps Mineralogy software will be preferred;
• Proven experience in coaching and knowledge transfer;
• Fluency in English, knowledge of Portuguese will be preferred

Habilidades Desejadas

• Comply with and adhere to Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures, relevant legislation and company policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment;

• Operate the mineralogy laboratory by managing sample analysis and maintenance operations;
• Develop the reporting of the analyses carried out in daily, weekly and monthly communications;
• Assist in the creation of a geometallurgical model to help manage the production strategies of the various Kenmare plants;

• identify the risks to the operations of the various mining plan options and metallurgical circuit design, and propose corrective action plans;

• Train the team in the full use of the SEM, in basic maintenance operations and in the preparation of samples to the highest international standards;

• Assist the superintendent to lead and supervise the team through coaching and mentoring in order to develop a highly functional team;

• Identify initiatives and opportunities for continuous improvement in all areas of the laboratories, develop cost effective solutions for these initiatives and implement contingency plans to maintain production, following up on the ongoing resolution of problems;
